Day 1
|
Arrival
Lhasa (3,650m)
Arrival at Lhasa, capital of Tibet. Upon arrival at Gonggar
airport you will be received and driven to Lhasa. Check - in at Lhasa Hotel, 4 or at Shambala Hotel, 3 (two options). Spend the rest of the day at hotel, getting used to the altitude.

Days 2-3
|
Lhasa

These two days will be spent discovering Lhasa - its magnificent
palace residences, Monasteries & quaint bazaars. You will
see the famous Potala Palace, which was constructed in 637
by Songtsen Gampo, the first king of the united Tibet and
later served as the winter residence of the Dalai Lamas,
Norbulinka Palace-which means the garden of treasures in
Tibetan language. Located in the west suburbs of Lhasa,
this palace complex was built in the 18th century and served
as the summer residence of the Dalai Lamas, Sera Monastery as well as the Jokhang monastery-the center of the Tibetan
Buddhism and the sacred land of Buddhist followers where
innumerable pilgrims come for worship everyday. The temple,
built in 647, is the earliest wood-and-masonry structure
still existing in Tibet. Walk through the narrow lanes of
Barkhor, the old market place of Lhasa, which has remained
unchanged for centuries. Overnight at Lhasa Hotel, 4 or at Shambala Hotel, 3 (two options).

Day 4
|
Lhasa-Gyantse-Shitgase (B,L, D)
Breakfast. Today, drive to Gyantse, with the Glacier scene
still exciting you . There stands the 35m-high famous Kunbum,
packed with exquisite Tibetan sculpture and paintings, a stunning
architectural wonder in Tibet. Pass by the Yamdrok-Tso Lake,
the third-biggest holy lake in Tibet and a wonderful place
for taking photos. Cross over Kangpa-La Pass (4790m) on the
way and in the late afternoon arrive in Gyantse, which lies
on the bank of the Nyang-river. Lunch in route. In the afternoon,
visit the Perkhor Chode monastery, for its splendid Tibetan
Buddhist art, both of them being built in the15th century
by 16th Dalai lama. Optional visit the Kumbum Pagoda (100-Thousand-Buddha
Pagoda). After, drive to Shigatse. Overnight at Shigatse Hotel, 3 .

Day 5
|
Shigatse-Xieger (B,L,D)
In the morning, visits the gold tops of Tashilunpo
monastery-the Panchan Lama's residence, shinning under the
sun. While Tashilhunpo's magnificent outside leaves you gasp
in admiration, the inside of this monastery introduces you
more religious tranquility and sincerity. Just close to Tashilhunpo
is the Old Town of Shigatse, a great place to wander around:
Nicely decorated Tibetan houses and interesting market and
bazaar give you a vivid picture of local people's life. After, drive to Xieger. Overnight at Qomo Langma Hotel,1 .

Day 6
|
Xieger-Mt. Everest Camp-Shigatse (B,L,D,)
Today, we drive to visit and see the Mt. Everest camp. In the afternoon, drive back to Shigatse. Overnight at Shigatse Hotel, 3

Day 7
|
Shigatse
- Lhasa (B,L,D)
Breakfast at hotel. After days of visit to various monasteries,
this day is an easy journey, driving along the Yarlung Zsangpo
River back to Lhasa. Lunch in route. If your spirit is still
high, you can look around in Lhasa again. Overnight at Lhasa Hotel, 4 or at Shambala Hotel, 3 (two options).

Day 8
|
Departure
Lhasa, Tibet (B)
Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for departure Lhasa, Tibet
to your new destination (*not included the departure flight or train-on
request!). Post tour to Beijing-Mongolia or to Nepal. End of the Tibet tour. |
